Hello! ¡Hola! Welcome to Williamsburg Northside!

We are a warm, inclusive, and progressive independent preschool community in the heart of Williamsburg, though our reach extends beyond. We’re thrilled to have you join us on this incredible journey as part of our community!

Our Preschool program is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, emphasizing that children are strong, capable, and autonomous individuals. We guide our students to co-construct their learning within an emergent curriculum, fostering their individual identities and helping them recognize their value and role within the school and the wider community.

While project-based learning is a key part of the day, every moment in our preschool schedule is filled with opportunities for growth and skill-building. Teachers are guided by the New York State Early Learning Guidelines, combined with their own expertise, to offer developmentally appropriate challenges that help each student thrive.

Consistency and structure are essential in creating a sense of community, yet our daily routine remains flexible to meet each child's needs. Each class engages in morning assemblies, project work, unstructured gross motor play on our renovated rooftop or indoor gym, along with time for meals, play, stories, rest, and bathroom breaks.

Our PreK and Kindergarten years are pivotal, filled with creative and academic experiences to prepare students for First Grade and beyond. Children are encouraged to make meaningful choices in their daily lives and education, fostering active, engaged, and confident lifelong learners. The social and emotional development cultivated in the 1s, 2s and 3s programs sets the foundation for PreK and K success, where students build respectful relationships, independence, resilience, and curiosity.
