Who we are
Welcome to Edmund Burke School in Washington, DC.
Founded in 1968 | Grades 6-12 | Washington, DC
At Edmund Burke School, we strive for balance among academic rigor, civic engagement, and student well-being. We're a city school at our core, drawing upon the vast resources of our nation's capital and bringing together students who are different from one another in many ways.
Burke students are kind, diverse, creative, and witty, with a penchant for exploration. They bring incredible energy (and often strong opinions) to classes, athletics, and the arts. Our curriculum emphasizes research, writing, field and lab work, and independent projects, empowering students to pursue their interests at a high level – from microbiology to French literature, from robotics to economic systems. At the same time, we preserve space to explore new avenues, engage with the local community, and enjoy the middle and high school years.
We look forward to getting to know you.
