BHMS is proud to be the only preschool through 8th grade school in New York City to be jointly accredited by the New York Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS) and the American Montessori Society (AMS).

Here, you’ll find young learners lit up by curiosity. Through a challenging and dynamic academic program, students of every age are empowered to develop extraordinary problem-solving skills to succeed in high school, college, and beyond. They are taking on global issues and investigating and connecting subject matter across disciplines. They are learning to work collaboratively, advocate for themselves and others, and raise up their community.

Firmly grounded in the Montessori method and best educational practices, our rigorous academic approach asks students not just to find the answers, but to think critically and independently. Our Montessori classes are mixed-age, designed around a three-year cycle, giving students the opportunity to develop long-lasting relationships with their peers and teachers, and reinforce their learning through observing older students and teaching younger students. The core curriculum of math, language arts, science, culture, history, geography, Spanish, visual and performing arts, and athletics is highly integrated and experiential. Lessons are designed to engage students’ innate curiosity to make learning meaningful.
