PS1 Pluralistic School

PS1 Pluralistic School is a progressive K–6 independent school in Santa Monica, nationally recognized for its whole-child approach and commitment to pluralism. For over five decades, PS1 has believed that honoring individuality is the foundation of community. Every child is known deeply by every adult—not just their classroom teachers—and celebrated for who they are.

Our program is built on four cornerstones: helping students find their voice, cultivating empathy and belonging, fostering citizenship in classrooms, communities, and beyond, and honoring childhood as a joyful time of discovery. The result is an education that balances academic rigor with social-emotional growth. Students present to audiences from kindergarten on, collaborate across grade levels, and learn to advocate for themselves and for others.
