NORTHSHORE ACADEMY FOR CHILDREN
Who we are
The North Shore Academy for Children has been established since 1983. We offer preschool children a high quality full day program housed in a home-like environment. In this environment, a child is free to develop spontaneously and fully without trespassing on others and without being frustrated. The Academy is licensed by the City of Chicago and the State of Illinois.
The educational program of the center is largely based of Maria Montessori and modern child development theories. The didactic popularized by Maria Montessori, provide sensorial-perceptual, cognitive experiences for the children.
Food preparation and care of the environment provide opportunities for sensory-motor and socio-emotional growth. Similarly, outdoor activities foster gross motor development as well as self-expression.
The environment offers children semi-structured media such as paint, clay, wood, sand, etc. Which they may use to experiment and create. Field trips provide experiences not available in the school setting.
