Chicago Free School

Chicago Free School’s mission is to empower students to take ownership of their learning. We’re a small independent school serving Pre-K through 8th grade, located on the south side of Chicago. We believe learning should be joyful, hands-on, and connected to the wider world.  We believe that when children direct their own learning and discover their unique passions, they unlock the power of their own intrinsic motivation and curiosity.  We honor each learner as a whole individual and practice compassionate, critical engagement with one another and the world. Our school is an inclusive community that teaches democracy and gives students a voice.
