Our teachers are experts in early adolescence and are committed to meeting students where they are, building on their strengths and encouraging them to stretch beyond their comfort zones.   Our dynamic curriculum is carefully designed for the unique needs of middle schoolers, fostering critical thinking, collaborative skills, creativity, and confidence.

• Empowering Outdoor Education
  Our students spend over 10 days each year immersed in experiences designed to sequentially build outdoor skills - from backpacking and camping, to ropes courses, to snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. In addition, Outdoor Education themes are woven into our academic programming across all three years, building a strong sense of responsibility and environmental stewardship.

• Robust Student Support
  Our Student Support Team includes a full-time counselor and a core group of educators focused on ensuring every student has the opportunity and support needed to reach their full potential. Our Advisory program provides each student with a faculty mentor, with whom they meet regularly over all three years. 

• Vibrant Arts Education for Every Student
  Drama, instrumental music, and visual arts are integral to the Explorer West experience, promoting self-expression, teamwork, and artistic appreciation.

• • School Tours, followed by Q&A session: Weekly on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:00-10:00 am (alternate times by arrangement) - beginning October 6, 2026.
  • Information Sessions: September 24 at noon (Zoom), October 28 at 6:30 pm (Zoom), and January 6 at 9:00 am (in person at Explorer West).
  • Open Houses: Sunday, November 15, 2026 from 1:00 - 2:30 pm and Thursday, December 10, 2026 from 6:00 - 7:30 pm.
