Brooklyn Independent is a middle school that dares to care during the most crucial years of development. We dare to serve kids differently.

Located in Fort Greene, BKI believes students should be cared for and educated as unique individuals so they thrive as confident learners. Our progressive education model moves beyond high academic rigor with experiential, collaborative-based learning, which sharpens each student’s skills while engaging their curiosity, creativity and humanity. 

Our unique sliding-scale tuition model tailors tuition to each family's economic circumstance to ensure ALL families across the socioeconomic spectrum have access to an excellent education.
