Who we are
Open Mind School is a TK–12 community school dedicated to providing a student-driven, neuro-relational education rooted in universal design and access for all learners. Our model blends academic rigor with individualized supports, ensuring students at every level—from those seeking honors and AP courses to those needing additional academic or support service intervention—are challenged and supported in meaningful ways. Core classes are taught by doctorate and masters level content specialists and SEL is led by a licensed therapist, who bring passion and a wealth of knowledge to students to ignite their curiosity and deepen their understanding of material and strengthen their skills.
Learning at Open Mind School extends well beyond the classroom. Students participate in community-based courses such as aquatics at Bay Club, community service at our local food bank, and computer literacy at JobTrain. On campus, our 13,000-square-foot gym—complete with a warrior ninja course, rock climbing walls, a zipline, and gymnastics studio—reflects our commitment to balancing academics, movement, and enrichment. This holistic approach helps students grow utilizing the mind-body connection while cultivating joy for learning.
As a social impact school, we partner with nonprofits and community organizations to create opportunities for students to engage in real-world service, innovation, and leadership. Through these collaborations, students learn to see themselves as active contributors to their communities while developing empathy, resilience, and a sense of responsibility as global citizens.
Our program integrates project-based and experiential learning, guided by data-informed practices and high academic standards. By blending hard work with playful exploration, Open Mind School creates a learning environment where every student is encouraged to achieve, belong, and thrive.
