Nomad is a progressive inquiry- and project-based middle school for self-driven students in 5th-8th grades. At Nomad, each semester consists of a thematic “journey” based on a big idea or concept which is our lens to explore academic content and our city.
Engage academically: Through hands-on labs, simulations and rigorous, personalized skill instruction, students dive deep into our journey topics. We take two field trips each week to learn from both the natural world and the community experts all around us.
Become a changemaker: Our journey topics are chosen specifically to allow us to engage with important issues like environmental justice, LGBTQ+ rights, anti-colonialism, disability justice, racial justice, and more.
Dream it, do it: Each journey culminates with students completing a large-scale, self-driven project where they put their interdisciplinary-skills to use through building, writing, coding, painting, sculpting, designing—the sky’s the limit.
