THE ALTA VISTA EXPERIENCE

Learning by Doing

STEAM(Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) is the foundation the Alta Vista experience. Students investigate authentic questions, solve problems, build, create, test, and revise—as they develop and learn reading, writing, mathematics, science, social studies, and communication.

Small Classes. Meaningful Connections.

In Lower School, each grade has two classes, with two lead teachers in every classroom and an average of 16 students per section. This structure creates a close-knit learning environment while giving students abundant opportunities to participate, collaborate, ask questions, and take the lead.

As students move into Middle School, they continue to learn in small classes with teachers and advisors who know them well, while gaining greater independence, ownership, and opportunities to pursue their ideas.

Students are supported by academic coaches, counselors, and learning specialists who work together to help each child grow academically, socially, and personally.

Room to Explore

From Spanish, arts, coding, drama, and music to health and wellness, students discover new interests and develop the confidence to try something new.

Across the JK–8 journey, students gradually take greater ownership of their learning. They learn to research, design, solve, communicate, collaborate, and advocate for themselves and others.
