For over 60 years, we have used the whole of San Francisco as our classroom, enriching a rigorous program in math, science, arts, and humanities that is recognized for its innovation and excellence by the nation’s top colleges. With comprehensive service learning and competitive athletics, along with a wide range of co-curricular activities and affinity groups, Urban’s unique, student-led approach offers an education that is vibrant, lasting, and deeply personal.

We invite 8th graders and their families to explore Urban and discover our remarkable community. Beginning in late August, the “Apply” button on our website will guide you through the admissions process and event schedule—without requiring a commitment to apply.

Please note: our admissions program is designed for 8th graders entering 9th grade. Limited transfer spaces may be available annually in grades 10 and 11, but we do not accept mid-year transfers or rising seniors. We look forward to meeting 7th-grade families in the fall of their 8th-grade year, and invite all families to experience Urban at our athletic games, concerts, and drama performances.
