Seattle Country Day School

Seattle Country Day School

Grades
K–8

Who we are

At Seattle Country Day School, we know gifted children can be intense, verbal, and imaginative. They can have wildly different interests, from reading, to coding, to art. And they come from every community.

At SCDS, your child will find a warm, welcoming classroom, one based around the concept of inquiry — a method where teachers encourage students to explore, to ask questions, to experiment, and to create. It’s a method that brings out the best in our students, stokes their passion for learning, and helps them develop critical-thinking skills that last a lifetime.

In addition to the core subjects of language arts, math, science, and social studies, SCDS offers:

  • A close-knit, welcoming campus with small class sizes
  • Technology, art, and music classes for grades K–5
  • Spanish and Mandarin
  • Dozens of electives for grades 6–8, including such topics as algebra II, musical production, printmaking, app development, beginning band, and more
  • After-school care
  • Off-campus learning experiences, including a special winter sports program and major learning-related trips in grades 7 and 8
  • Bus/shuttle service (if there’s sufficient interest) to the Eastside (520 and I-90 corridors), to West Seattle and South Seattle, to the Madison Park/Capitol Hill area, and to North Seattle and Queen Anne.

While we do accept students into every grade K-8 each year, our main entry points are Kindergarten, 1st, and 6th grades. We are so excited to meet you and your family!
