Who we are

Lake Washington Girls Middle School holds up the opportunity of a world in which all students are nurtured and empowered to reach their academic, social, and emotional potential. L-Dub provides a supportive, inclusive, and girl-forward learning environment where members of our community are active partners in inspiring leadership, social responsibility, and self-confidence in our students.

By encouraging collaboration, critical thinking, and leadership, Lake Washington Girls Middle School empowers girls to be strong in mind, body, and voice to advocate for a more just and equitable world.

The following principles reflect our identity, underlie our success, and guide our ever-evolving institution.

Belonging

The community strives for every student to feel like they matter by cultivating a culture of kindness and inviting students to walk through the door bringing their full selves.  By creating a space where students feel like they belong, they can begin being critical of the world around them and engage in the conversations that inform the change they want to make.

Civic Responsibility

Rooted in social justice and empathy, Lake Washington Girls Middle School upholds a passion for political participation and service to many communities.

Partnership

The school and home partnership are a critical part of a student’s educational success and essential partners in the school’s mission and community.

Leadership, Success, and Failure

Guided by intellectual curiosity and individual passions every student has the opportunity to be a leader in formal and informal spaces.  We also encourage them to take risk and to view failure as an opportunity to build resiliency and to learn and grow.
